Kapiti Island Nature Reserve

Kapiti is one of a few relatively accessible island nature reserves. It
provides an opportunity for people to observe birds that are either very
rare or absent from the mainland, and to see the recovery of vegetation
after intensive modification during last century.

Te Araroa Trail

Te Araroa Walking Trail

Spanning the full length of the country, Te Araroa is New Zealand's Trail -
taking in spectacular New Zealand landscapes from beaches to
volcanoes to forests to cities.

Te Araroa in the Wellington region takes in the Tararua Ranges - some of
New Zealand's most challenging tramping country - then comes down
the stunning Kapiti Coast (directly through El Rancho land), before
coming over exposed ridgelines with spectacular views - a fitting way
to enter Wellington!

For more info check the Te Araroa link.
