El Rancho is a peaceful and safe family holiday park bordering the Waikanae River and a short walk to Waikanae Beach, on the Kapiti Coast north of Wellington.

We offer comfortable family budget accommodation from camping and caravan sites to cabins and lodges. Most of our accommodation is self serviced leaving you more dollars to enjoy your holiday. 
 

Motel Accommodation

We offer a range of motel units depending on your budget and preference. There are units suitable for individuals, couples and families at a very competitive price.

Recreation and Activities

Camping at El Rancho is a relaxed and laid back affair perfect for families with small children.

Our location is ideal for walking and cycling with tracks bordering the Waikanae River and around the estuary to Waikanae Beach. 

Kapiti has an impressive shared pathway stretching from Peka Peka right down to Paekakariki, that runs right past El Rancho. It is the perfect way to discover the area either by bike or on foot.  Check out the 'Stride n Ride' map here.

There are also plenty of other activities to keep the family entertained including the swimming pools, water slide, tennis courts, mini putt, petanque, trampolines and more!

 Activities that are readily available without prior booking are Swimming Pool (in season), Mini Golf, Tennis, Petanque and Trampolines.

 

Weekend Getaways

If changing the environment and getting away for a quiet weekend of relaxation and leisure is your preference you will not be disappointed with Waikanae as a getaway destination. We boast some of the finest Cafe's and Eateries on the Kapiti Coast. Whether your like pizza, fine dining, Indian or oriental cuisine we have it all within a 5 minute drive from township to beach.

WiFi vouchers and Washer/Drier tokens can be purchased from the Office.

Our showers do not require tokens and do not have time limits, what they do have is excellent water pressure for you to enjoy!

Please note to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all our guests, our site is pet and alcohol free.

 My family had a fantastic time. We stayed in Baker Lodge which we found well equipped and clean and spacious, the shower pressure was wonderful 😊 our 13 year old had a blast enjoying the activities on site and meeting lots of kids, we barely saw him during the day.  We loved the peace and quiet of the camp, the birds. The instructors and staff are friendly and accommodating and a credit to El Rancho.
